Camping in the Brecon Beacons
Tuesday, September 12th, 2006So the five of us set off to the Brecon Beacons on Friday 8th September 2006. In typical style Cyrus arrived later than expected at the Mills Halligan house, so some speed was required in order to get to the camp site before darkness. As luck would have it the trusty bus took us along the M4 corridor and up in to the Beacons effortlessly. We arrived in Libanus (just outside Brecon) and met Jay in the local pub (no surprise) before heading to the campsite.
Camp was quickly setup, well my tent was, both Cyrus and Jay were still trying to get their first tent up. In fairness it was a new tent and Cyrus was involved so I shouldn’t have expected anything more really. We got the kids tent up, while they went out looking for firewood. As the kids brought back little bits of wood, all three adults shouted louder at them for not getting enough. In the end Cyrus and myself went out hunting for wood, only to come back with a twig, between us! Needless to say we apologised to the kids for our shouting and we got on with lighting the fire and cooking dinner. (more…)
